Welcome to Fifth Grade. I hope you had a wonderful summer. This summer I spent a lot of time with my family when I was not at school working on fun things for this year. My husband Aaron and I enjoy boating, swimming and fishing with our children Cameron (13) and Molly (3). This summer we explored the Outer Banks in North Carolina and found some great history I will share with you about the Pea Island Rescue Center. You will learn about this while reading in our basal. We also went to Maine and did some saltwater fishing.
This year you will be reading the book Wonder as a class. I think you will love this book. There are many lessons for all of us to learn from the book. We will have an evening event for a family viewing of the movie "Wonder", following the completion of the reading.
Throughout the year we will work on Our Pratt's Troop Goals. I established these goals last year with the help of the students. We have three main objectives. To be active learners, good citizens in the school and community, and be more involved in outside organizations. Last year the students were able to reach the goal in each of the three areas of reading books, volunteering hours in our school and community, and raising money to give to our school and outside organizations. Our goal for each of these was 1253 in honor of my Uncle Timothy Pratt's Badge number, who was a NYS Trooper.
