Dear Parents and Guardians
Our faculty and staff are very excited to welcome back all of our students for the 2022-2023 school year! To help you prepare for your child’s first day back, we wanted to share with you the latest update on August 11, 2022, Center for Disease Control and Prevention “Operational Guidance for K-12 School and Early Care Education Programs to Support Safe In-Person Learning” and the guidance issued on August 22, 2022 for the NYS Department of Health and the NYS Education Department.
The full information can be accessed online at https://coronavirus.health.ny.gov/schools-youth, but the bullet points below will help you understand the impact on all of us as we return to school:
Masks
-
Masks and face coverings are optional, and we continue to respect the decisions by students and staff on whether they choose to wear a mask or not.
-
Masks are not required on school buses
-
Individuals returning to school after completing 5 days of isolation due to a positive test should wear a mask in school and in public spaces on days 6-10.
Quarantine/Isolation
-
Quarantine: Individuals exposed to COVID-19 are not required to quarantine, regardless of vaccination status.
-
Isolation: A positive COVID-19 test requires individuals to isolate for a period of 5 days with Day 0 being the day of onset of symptoms or date of positive test.
-
Please continue to report any positive cases so we can help your family navigate the absence.
Symptomatic Students
-
Symptomatic students and staff will be sent home and should not return until their symptoms resolve or test negative for COVID-19.
-
Students and staff who are sent home with symptoms may return once symptoms resolve or a test negative for COVID is provided. COVID tests are available in the Main Office.
Screening/Testing
-
Unvaccinated faculty and staff are no longer required to be screened
-
COVID Test Kits are available for students, faculty and staff in our Main Office
Physical Distancing
Sincerely,
Brian George
